Overview of EPC Water Pressure Systems

The EPC (Electronic Pressure Control) freshwater pressure system features automatic start and stop controls. The pump ceases operation when no water is detected and resumes when water is available again. This system is suitable for vessels ranging from 13 to 25 meters and includes a bronze pump and impeller.

Designed for both freshwater and saltwater use, EPC water pressure systems are widely utilized in the maritime industry. They provide consistent water pressure for various onboard appliances, including showers, sinks, and toilets.

Introduction to EPC Water Pressure Systems

The EPC unit operates quieter than traditional mechanical switches, incorporating a floating mechanism that absorbs the impeller's shock. The pressure setting for starting and stopping the pump is factory pre-set, meaning no adjustments can be made post-installation. However, it offers protection against dry running.

This design allows for a smaller accumulator, making it an excellent choice for vessels with limited space. Note that the EPC system is incompatible with three-phase motors, which may pose a limitation for some boats. An accumulator is also recommended, as it can store pressure in the system and prevent frequent motor cycling.

Operational Details of EPC Water Pressure Systems

C.E.M. manufactures water pressure systems equipped with the EPC electronic control system, designed for automatic pump management. The EPC automatically controls the pump's start and stop functions when pressure drops or when the water supply is interrupted. This system offers several advantages:

  • The pump automatically shuts down when the water supply depletes, preventing harmful dry running.
  • Continuous operation monitoring through warning lights:
    • Green light 'Line' indicates the pump is operational.
    • Red light 'Fault' signals that the pump is off due to an issue (e.g., water depletion).
  • Maintains a constant pressure during water distribution.
  • Smaller overall dimensions compared to traditional water pressure systems with tanks.

If the pump stops due to lack of water, the EPC will attempt brief restarts at regular intervals to check for water availability. Should the pump manage to draw water during one of these attempts (up to four), it will resume normal operation. After four unsuccessful attempts, the EPC will completely shut off the pump, which can only be restarted by pressing the 'reset' button.
